Tee Time in Texas

Move over Palm Springs, Scottsdale and Hilton Head!
San Antonio is your destination for golf!

The Quarry

Located in an 86-acre rock quarry just 10 minutes from the River Walk, it is unquestionably the city's (if not the state's) most unique golf course! The front nine is totally treeless and the swirling wind currents on the 140-foot deep back nine make club selection a roll of the dice!

La Cantera

The unforgettable and beautiful 18 holes at La Cantera is home to the Texas Open! The course is carved through the Texas hill country where bubbling streams and dramatic rock formations are seen in every direction. The seventh tee shot is blasted from the apex of an 80-foot quarry wall to the green 300 feet away. Watch out for the bunker, shaped to replicate a diamond-back rattler!

The Palmer Course

Don't expect to see any PGA tours on this course due to it's drastic changes in elevation that make it impossible to walk. But do expect to see breathtaking views from some of San Antonio's highest points. Easy, this course is not! Arnold Palmer is very proud of this course! Are you up for the challenge?

Canyon Springs

This one offers the tranquil, relaxing sounds of the country, trickling waterfalls and native wildlife. With 5 sets of tees on each hole, demanding greens and magnificent waterfalls on the 10th and 18th holes, this 7,707 yard course presents a formidable challenge!

Hyatt Regency Hill Country

"It's one of the best courses that we have designed," says Arthur Hills, renowned for his challenging, environmentally sensitive courses. It has great balance that's not too penal, is player-friendly for the occasional golfer but also offers a demanding test for the championship player.

Others

There are many well maintained municipal courses. Cedar Creek's course is ranked in the top 25 courses in the Austin/San Antonio/Hill Country area and considered to be the finest municipal since Pebble Beach. Play Pecan Valley, site of the 50th PGA Championship in 1968, rated #16 in the Shell Golf Guide. Many other courses offer beauty, relaxation and challenges to novices or experienced golfers.
